The website The Smörgåsbord of Scandinavia was published in March 2025 and is owned by Region Kalmar län. It has been developed as part of a larger initiative where Region Kalmar län and the county's twelve municipalities jointly showcase how attractive it is to live and work in Kalmar County.

Region Kalmar län and all the municipalities in Kalmar County have gathered joint initiatives for establishment, business investments and relocation under one concept: The Smorgasbord of Scandinavia. The basic idea of a smorgasbord is that you don't have to choose in Kalmar County, because here you can find both forest and coast, tradition and innovation, career and leisure. The smorgasbord is a natural way to show how many different types of strengths can be combined into a whole. The connection to a smorgasbord is also extra natural for Kalmar County, which is best at growing food and taking care of guests, a county that stands for good food, hospitality and friendly service.

Since 2019 Region Kalmar län and the municipalities in Kalmar County have invested to attract more people to move to Kalmar County. Kalmar County has been marketed as not only an obvious holiday destination but also an attractive place to move to and an attractive county to live, reside and work in.
